Please complete the Googleform below which will ask the following:
  • Confirm your attendance at the concert
  • Confirm you can attend the rehearsal on the day of the concert
  • Whether you need a chair
Please ensure this form is completed by Friday 24th May at the latest.
Attendance at rehearsal and Concert We are asking that members attend, as a minimum, the 3 rehearsals in the run up to the concert (21/5, 4/6, 11/6). If you wish to discuss this please contact us on barnsleysingerschoir@gmail.com  If you wish to take part in the concert you MUST attend the rehearsal on the day at 1pm. If you cannot attend this then sadly you will be unable to take part in the concert. This is to ensure all members know what is happening during the concert in regards to songs, staging, band etc.  Songs  Below is the songs we will be singing – this is also the running order of the concert 1.     Mr Blue Sky  2.     What a Wonderful World 3.     You’re still the one  4.     Requiem (Pauls version) 5.     Lord is it Mine 6.     Seal Lullaby  7.     You’ve got a friend 8.     Let The River Run INTERVAL 1.     Ukuthula 2.     Total Praise 3.     Angel  4.     Something inside so strong  5.     With a Little Help from my Friends  6.     Dan 7.     Africa  8.     Bill Withers Medley  Rehearsal tracks are available for most tracks and can be found by visiting  barnsleysingers.org.uk. The password is BS@6thForm. I know some members have been asking about downloading tracks and we are aware that this is an issue for some at present – we are however looking at ways we can resolve this situation and will let you know in due course.  I have asked Chris if he can do a section on the Members Area where all the songs are together as he did for us for the Christmas concert. As soon as this is done I will let you know.  Solos  There will be an opportunity to try out for some of the solo parts during rehearsals on Tuesday 23rd and Tuesday 30th April.  We need soloists for the following songs: Ukuthula – 3 soloists needed Angel Something Inside So Strong  Africa Raffle Prizes We will be doing a raffle on the day of the concert! If anyone has anything they wish to donate please bring them to the rehearsal on the day! Volunteers Concert days are always really busy days and require lots of help and support on the day! Therefore we are asking members if they know of anyone who could help us in the evening. We will need people from around 6pm-10pm Jobs will include
  • Selling raffle tickets and drawing them
  • Selling programmes
  • Helping people to their seats if needed
  • Showing VIPs to their seats
If you know of anyone who would like to help us out – please can you let me know so we can arrange roles.  If volunteers could arrive at 6pm please in a Barnsley Singers t-shirt if you have one or a plain black one if you don’t have one.  Dress We will be wearing rehearsal t-shirts for our afternoon rehearsal and then Concert Dress at night! Dress for the evening is concert dress which is black with a splash of red! You can see photos of our previous concerts for ideas. Sensible and comfortable shoes are a must! We will be spending lots of time on our feet so please wear something that is comfortable. It was very warm last year and so could possibly be again. Please bear this in mind in relation to your dress choice.  Water/Food As Luke always says it is important to be hydrated before we start to sing, Luke mentioned about it taking around 4 hours for it to begin to work so be drinking plenty of water the day before and during the morning. The Civic were very good last year at ensuring we had water available throughout the day but please ensure you come prepared.  You may also want to bring a few snacks for rehearsal and the break. Can we please ask you to also avoid bringing any products that contain nuts or peanuts.  Housekeeping We ask all members to ensure that they clean up after themselves and that they ensure the venue is clean and tidy with items placed back where they belong before we leave on the Saturday. The more that helps out the quicker it gets done.  Parking There is no parking at the Civic but there are plenty of Pay and Display car parks located close by.  Code of Conduct I want to take this opportunity before a big event to remind everyone of our Code of Conduct. When performing at concerts or events we are representing our organisation and it is important we do this in a manner that reflects the kind of organisation we are. Please take some time between now and Saturday to re-familiarise yourself with this document. It also contains thorough information about our dress code. Tickets Tickets will be on sale via the Barnsley Civic Website. As soon as these go on sale we will send you all the details.  Drinks After I know there are usually plans to potentially go for a drink after the concert is over – we aren’t sure of the venue yet but everyone is welcome to join us. It is always a great way to finish the evening after such an amazing event!  That’s all for now. Please keep this information safe so you can refer to it at a later date if you need to do so.  Best Wishes Dawn  Secretary
